Begin preparing for spring and summer celebrations at Vancouver parks

Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services has announced that picnic shelter reservations are open for select locations throughout the city. Reservations can be made for events between May 1 and Sept. 30 and cost $75 for the day. The arrangements can be made online at www.cityofvancouver.us/picnicshelters, as well as through the Marshall Community Center, 360-487-7100, or the Firstenburg Community Center, 360-487-7001. Spots include tables, electricity in some shelters and public park amenities. Whether groups want to celebrate a birthday, host an outdoor painting session or have a cornhole tournament, attendees must comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Picnic shelter reservations can be made for the following locations: Fisher Basin Community Park, Southeast 192nd Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard LeRoy Haagen Memorial Park, Northeast Ninth Street west of Northeast 136th Avenue Marine Park, Southeast Marine Park Way and Columbia Way Marshall Community Park, 1015 E. McLoughlin Blvd. Shelters at David Douglas Community Park, 1016 N. Garrison Road, and Leverich Park, 4400 N.E. Leverich Park Way, are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
