Teen is expected to survive his injuries, Vancouver Police Department reports

A 17-year-old boy was wounded late Saturday during a drive-by shooting in the Cascade Park area in east Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department. A police statement said the teen is expected to survive his injuries. Police responded to the 500 block of Southeast 123rd Avenue around 9:15 p.m. after callers reported hearing shots fired in the area, according to the statement. As police were en route, a hospital notified police that a young man with gunshot wounds had just arrived at the hospital, the statement said. Investigators found multiple shell casings and two cars struck by gunfire at the Southeast 123rd Avenue location. No additional injuries were reported. The case is under investigation by detectives with the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Team and the Safe Streets Task Force, according to the statement.
