Letter: Support local doughnut shop

By Mike Barrett, Vancouver Published: February 6, 2022, 6:00am

As many folks already know, and as The Columbian ran an article on Jan. 12, Voodoo Doughnut is now in Vancouver in what used to be a bank building on the outer area of the mall. I am sure many folks are excited about the Portland-based company expanding into Vancouver, and certainly they have the right to buy their doughnuts there. However, I find it sad that they have chosen a location directly across the street (Thurston) from an established, Vancouver-based doughnut shop, Angel’s Donuts. I have frequented Angel’s on several occasions and find their doughnuts delicious, and it should be noted that they have excellent ice cream as well. I hope folks will strongly consider spending at least some their “doughnut bucks” with the locally owned establishment, as I would really hate to see a Washington-based small business destroyed by the Portland behemoth.
