Camas-based semiconductor and fiber lasers company nLIGHT announced Monday that it has acquired an Austrian-based company called Plasmo. Plasmo specializes in process monitoring and quality assurance systems for laser products such as nLIGHT’s. Over the past handful of years, nLIGHT has been seeing increased revenue and other acquisitions, including the 2019 purchase of high-energy laser maker Nutronics. The company, founded in Vancouver, moved to Camas in 2020. “Combining lasers with Plasmo’s real-time process monitoring solutions provide customers with a significant advantage as they develop, qualify and produce increasingly complex laser-printed or welded parts, particularly for high volume electric vehicle production,” said Jake Bell, general manager for industrial lasers, in a news release. nLIGHT is hosting its quarterly earnings call on Thursday, when it can release more information on the acquisition, according to Joe Corso, who will become nLIGHT’s chief financial officer on March 1. The company employs more than 1,275 people with operations in the U.S., China and Finland. Its shares closed at $19.18, down 4 cents, on the Nasdaq exchange Monday.
