A vacant mobile home was destroyed in a fire Monday morning in Hazel Dell. Clark County Fire District 6 responded around 3:30 a.m. to Callaham’s Mobile Court, at 10804 N.E. Highway 99. Crews arrived to one single-wide unit fully engulfed and flames about 10 feet tall. The fire began spreading toward a nearby unit, but spokesman Dave Schimtke said firefighters contained the flames to the one unit. Crews had the fire under control by 4 a.m., he said. The one mobile home was a total loss, for a damage value of $300. No one was living in the unit at the time, and a neighbor told the fire department that the unit that burned had been scheduled for demolition. A truck from the Vancouver Fire Department and staff from the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded.
