Here are the nominees for the Northwest Personal Training Week 20 high school athlete of the week. Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Wednesday, with results announced in Thursday’s edition of The Columbian. Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks. Here are the nominees: LIAM DUNN, HOCKINSON SWIMMING: Dunn was the state runner-up in the 50 freestyle and placed fifth in the 100 backstroke at the 2A state meet. SAM EMPEY, UNION BOYS SWIMMING: Empey was the state runner-up in the 100 butterfly, placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and helped Union place in two relays at the 4A state meet. ALEX FORD, PRAIRIE WRESTLING: Ford became the first state champion from Prairie since 1987 when won the 3A 160-pound division with a pin in the title match. NATALIE FRALEY, KELSO GIRLS BASKETBALL The senior scored 27 points in a win over Gig Harbor and 35 against Auburn as Kelso won the 3A bi-district title. CJ HAMBLIN, MOUTNAIN VIEW WRESTLING: Hamblin completed an unbeatend season by winning his third state title, capturing the 3A crown at 170 pounds.
