164th Avenue closed due to gas line break in east Vancouver Free Updated 2 hours ago

The Vancouver Fire Department responded to reports of a gas line break on 164th Avenue at First Street on Monday afternoon. The gas leak was first reported at 12:26 p.m. in east Vancouver. A statement from Vancouver Fire Department said 164th Avenue would be closed in the area until about 4 p.m. Shortly after the leak was reported, Vancouver police responded and closed 164th between Northwest 18th Street and Southeast Sixth Street. Vancouver fire and police evacuated the area for the outside gas leak; NW Natural responded for repairs. Vancouver fire asks that drivers avoid the area. A cause for the leak has not been provided. This story will be updated if more information becomes available.
