Photo Chuck’s Produce has been purchased but the name and the faces customers regularly see at the store will remain the same — and they’ll get to see them on Saturday. Pattison Food Group, a company based in Vancouver, B.C., announced its Roth’s Fresh Markets business has purchased Chuck’s Produce and Street Market. Roth’s Fresh Markets is based in Salem, Ore., but was purchased by Pattison in October 2021. At the time it was sold, it had nine stores in Oregon’s mid-Willamette Valley. Like Chuck’s, it specialized in locally sourced products, while also focusing on custom cake centers and catering. Both Chuck’s grocery stores will report to Roth’s President Tim Jennings. “This is an exciting time for our company,” Jennings said in a statement to the press. “Joining the Pattison Food Group last October has given Roth’s the ability to grow and strengthen our business as we are doing today with the acquisition of Chuck’s Produce and Street Market.” Both Roth’s and Chuck’s share similar values, according to the press release. Both companies, it continued, not only support local products but also delivering the freshest local produce.

“We are thrilled to welcome the team at Chuck’s to Roth’s and to the Pattison Food Group,” said Darrell Jones, president of Pattison Food Group, in the statement. “This is a great addition to the group that share our commitment to excellent quality and customer service.” The stores were owned by Premier Management Service Corp., which is co-owned by Bart Colson. Colson is a partner at the Vancouver-based Hawthorn Retirement Group, owning numerous senior care facilities around the U.S., including Springwood Landing Gracious Retirement Living in Vancouver. The stores are known for being a premier grocer in the county and one of very few that were locally owned. Unlike other retailers, Chuck’s was closed on Saturdays and did not sell pork, shellfish, wine or spirits. Pattison announced late Monday that, beginning April 2, both Chuck’s locations will be open on Saturdays by. They will also sell pork products and will sell wine and spirits pending regulatory approval. The Columbian reported both Chuck’s Produce and Street Market locations were for sale in December, listed on the market for $7.5 million for the Mill Plain location and $17 million for the Salmon Creek location.
