After two hours of negotiations, a Vancouver man who was found unconscious in his car Thursday night with a loaded firearm magazine on his passenger’s seat surrendered to police in the Bagley Downs neighborhood. Vancouver police responded at about 8 p.m. to the Bi-Mart at 2601 Falk Road. An employee had tried to wake the man by knocking on the car window, according to a police news release, and saw a loaded magazine on the seat, along with gloves and a mask. Police converged on the car and called over a loud speaker for the man, later identified as Casey S. Keith, to come out, according to court records. When Keith, 43, woke up, he tried to drive forward, and his car became stuck on a curb. He refused to exit the car for more than two hours, even when officers offered medical aid because they believed he’d ingested fentanyl, the news release states. Once he surrendered, police searched his car and found a stolen firearm, the police department said.

Keith appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, driving under the influence and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. His bail was set at $2,000, and he is scheduled to be arraigned May 13.
