Two people were displaced after an explosion, possibly caused by an accidental discharge of a firework, heavily damaged a home’s garage Wednesday afternoon in Vancouver’s Ogden neighborhood. The Vancouver Fire Department responded at 12:06 p.m. to 8420 N.E. Lewis Drive. Crews arrived to a single-story house with significant damage to the garage, according to a fire department news release. There was no fire when firefighters arrived. The person who called to report the explosion said a firework might have discharged in the garage, according to the fire department. No one was injured, the news release states. The force of the blast partly collapsed the roof over the garage and broke windows and damaged siding of a neighboring home, according to emergency radio traffic. Four fire engines, one truck and three battalion chiefs responded. The cause and damage estimate are under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office.
