Vancouver police are investigating a shooting Monday morning that wounded a teenage boy and damaged multiple vehicles in the Van Mall neighborhood. Police responded at about 4:45 a.m. to the 7300 block of Northeast Vancouver Mall Drive for reports of shots heard. As officers were arriving, a man called 911 to report that he had shot at two people who pulled a gun on him while he was walking to work, according to the police department. Officers located a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the leg. They also contacted the man who reported the shooting and detained him for questioning, police said. Multiple vehicles in the area were damaged from gunfire, police said. There were no other reported injuries.

Detectives from the police department’s Major Crimes Unit are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Vancouver Police Department.
