A pedestrian was injured Thursday when a driver failed to negotiate a turn and struck him while entering state Highway 500 from Northeast 112th Avenue in east Vancouver. The Washington State Patrol responded shortly before 1 a.m. to the 112th Avenue onramp to Highway 500. Adrian Ham, 23, of Vancouver was turning onto the westbound onramp, while Boris P. Perchatkin, 46, of Vancouver was walking on the right shoulder of the onramp, according to a State Patrol crash memo. Ham was exceeding a safe speed in his Honda Accord, the State Patrol said, and drove into the right ditch, striking Perchatkin and several bushes. Investigators say Ham then drove away from the crash. Perchatkin was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Troopers referred charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular assault against Ham. The crash memo states drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
