A man barricaded himself inside a barn Thursday in north Clark County after reportedly assaulting his elderly father, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded shortly before 2 p.m. to the area of Northeast 359th Street and 127th Avenue, near Fargher Lake, for reports of an assault. Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Skidmore said a woman called 911 to report her brother had possibly assaulted their elderly father. The suspect then went into a detached barn on the property. When deputies arrived, Skidmore said the man exited the barn and shot off a round in the area. Deputies retreated and waited for more units, including a SWAT team, to arrive. Deputies retrieved the family from the house, he said. The father declined medical attention. At one point, Skidmore said the suspect exited the barn again and fired another shot near a drone deputies were flying over the area. There were no reported injuries from the gunfire. As of 5:30 p.m., investigators were still trying to detain the man, Skidmore said.
