An Oregon man was injured Wednesday night after he stopped to help another crashed driver on snow-covered Interstate 5 near state Highway 500. Washington State Patrol troopers responded at 7:16 p.m. to I-5 southbound near the 39th Street exit. Rigoberto Alcazar Antunez, 33, from Aloha, Ore., stopped his Dodge minivan in the left lane to help a driver who had crashed, according to a State Patrol memo. While he was outside of his minivan, another driver, identified as Ryan W. Addie, 27, from Portland, crashed into the rear of the Dodge. The crash pushed the Dodge into Alcazar Antunez, the State Patrol said. Alcazar Antunez was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Addie’s Nissan Altima came to rest in the second lane, facing the wrong way, and the Dodge minivan was on the left shoulder. Troopers said Addie was traveling too fast for the snowy conditions and referred a charge of second-degree negligent driving. Addie was not reported to have been injured.
