As slush and ice still melt off Clark County’s roads from last week’s unexpected snowfall, the region could be facing another wintry mix in the days ahead. The National Weather Service in Portland forecast 1 to 3 inches of snow Saturday night into Sunday in the Vancouver area. For places at elevations above 500 feet, snow could accumulate up to 4 inches. Snow is expected to transition into light rain showers Sunday morning, with highs around 43 degrees in Vancouver. “We’re going to be relatively warmer, so that should help with snow melt,” said Noah Alviz, a meteorologist for the weather service. The week ahead might bring even more snow, though the forecast is very dynamic, according to Alviz. There’s a chance of up to half an inch of snow Sunday night and more snow on Monday.

“It’s iffy on the amounts right now,” Alviz said. “It could be like a rain snow or just snow showers.” Vancouver has about 2 inches of snow in the forecast for Tuesday morning. “But that can very much change,” Alviz said. “Some people could get slammed with snow again, kind of like what we saw last week, or get no snow at all.” Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing in the upcoming nights, so any snow likely wouldn’t melt until daytime. “I cannot guarantee or tell snow amounts right now,” Alviz said. “I would advise, keep looking at the forecast even up to the day of, because they can definitely change.”
