Threats of violence at Thomas Jefferson Middle School not credible, Clark County Sheriff’s Office says
Parents had reported student overheard another student making threats
Recent threats of violence reported at Thomas Jefferson Middle School were found not to be credible, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. School administrators contacted the sheriff’s office Wednesday about possible threats. They said parents reported that their student came home and talked about overhearing another student making threats against the school, according to a news release. Deputies spoke with the student who reportedly made the threat and their parents. Investigators determined the threat did not appear to be credible, and the student did not have access to weapons. The student was kept home from school Thursday, the news release states. On Thursday morning, school administrators again contacted the sheriff’s office to report another student might have been involved in the threat. Administrators sent that second student home for the day. That student also reportedly didn’t have access to weapons, the sheriff’s office said. In a letter sent home to families, Principal Kristyn Westphal said administrators arranged for heightened security at the school Thursday.
