One person was found dead after a Thursday morning house fire north of Frenchman’s Bar that also sent two others to area hospitals. The Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched at 6:38 a.m. to the 15700 block of Northwest Lower River Road, near the end of the roadway, for reports that a house was fully engulfed in flames. Two people were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, and one person was unaccounted for, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release. By 10:15 a.m. all that remained of the house was the smoldering foundation and chimney. Three vehicles were also burned on the property. Clark County Fire Marshal Dan Young said the structure was a two-story house that collapsed into the basement.
After firefighters extinguished the blaze and investigators searched the ruins, the person who was unaccounted for was found dead inside, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office did not release the identities of those involved. Officials are continuing to investigate and have not determined the cause of the fire. The sheriff’s office said there is no indication of foul play. Investigators from the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office, Vancouver Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office responded.
