Letter: City manager is costly
By John Molenaar, Vancouver Published: August 16, 2024, 6:00am
Just in case they didn’t know, the readers of The Columbian found out recently that the Vancouver city manager’s salary is $324,000 per year. That’s $76,000 per year less than the president of the United States makes, not an easy job as we all know. What can be so hard about a city manager’s job in a midsized U.S. town that warrants this kind of salary? One answer may be “who cares, it’s OPM (other people’s money).” And we wonder why our taxes are so high. Think about that when you vote.
