Letter: Parking can be costly

By Greg Dennis, VANCOUVER Published: October 3, 2024, 6:00am

I am now retired, but eight or 10 years ago my law firm was approached about leasing space in one of the buildings at the new Waterfront Vancouver development. The very trendy location was extremely tempting to many of our younger attorneys, but our firm determined that the anticipated future cost of parking for staff and clients was going to be too high and therefore we declined the opportunity. I am sorry that people didn’t expect the price increase for parking in the new garage(s) at the waterfront, but they should have seen it coming. In New York City, there are parking spaces for rent at $1,000 per month. Perhaps sleepy old Vancouver is headed in that same direction.
