Letter: Golf course sale is shameful

By Lucinda McElhinney, VANCOUVER Published: October 4, 2024, 6:00am

I am disappointed and appalled by the Clark County Council’s secret decision to sell our last public golf course. This is publicly owned land. The outcry should be loud. There is high-density housing being built everywhere I look with very little green space. The public parks in the county are suffering from overuse. If the cost of maintaining a golf course is too much, then the land should be turned into a general-use public park. Eventually, the county can add a play area and walking paths, picnic tables, etc. Once the land is sold, it is gone and destroyed, more houses, less green. We need to save this green space and contribute to a better quality of life for Vancouver. Shame on you, Clark County Council!
