Pedestrian killed while walking in the road on Fourth Plain, east of I-205 Updated 9 hours ago

A man walking in the road on Fourth Plain Boulevard was hit by a car and killed Saturday night in east Vancouver, according to Vancouver police. The pedestrian’s identity has not been released. Officers responded about 9 p.m. to a report of a collision on Fourth Plain near Northeast 54th Street, just east of Interstate 205, according to a statement. The westbound driver saw the pedestrian in his lane but did not have time to stop. The pedestrian, who had earlier been seen walking eastbound in the westbound lanes of Fourth Plain, did not survive his injuries. The driver cooperated with police. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the statement. The driver’s identity was not released. The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating.
