Letter: Crack down on gun violence

By Ashlyn Vessey, Vancouver Published: October 28, 2024, 6:00am

The gun violence occurring in our country is out of control. Reading “Vancouver man faces charges in road rage incident, accused of shooting into woman’s SUV” (The Columbian, Oct. 21) has opened my eyes to this issue. We cannot have guns in the hands of people who can’t control themselves. It’s extremely unsafe, especially when her children are in the car with her. Luckily, the judge ordered him to be unable for release until he gave up his gun. Unreasonable people can’t have their hands on a weapon that easily. In this situation, the shots only hit the windshield, but how many times in our country have there been deaths from unstable people with guns? There need to be stricter rules and background checks to be able to own a gun.
