Vancouver police arrested a man Tuesday they say pointed a gun at an employee while attempting to rob an east Vancouver bank. Officers responded about 10:30 a.m. to Key Bank, 13215 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., for a robbery. An employee said a man entered the lobby and pointed a revolver at another employee, according to a police news release. The two employees were able to get into a safe room, and the man took several items before running from the bank, police said. Police found the man nearby and arrested him. They found the bank’s property and a firearm in his backpack, according to the news release. They booked Jason Lee Welty into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery, first-degree possession of a stolen firearm and two counts of second-degree assault.
