Hockinson wrestlers place second at Three Rivers Classic

Tyrell Cash scored 18 points and Jose Zacarias had 17 points as Heritage beat Fort Vancouver 65-51 in a non-league boys basketball game Saturday night at the Moda Center in Portland. Heritage used a 17-3 run to end the first half to take a 26-14 lead into halftime. A 3-pointer by Isaiah Barajas and a basket by Samuel Howard to open the fourth quarter got Fort Vancouver within 39-35. Heritage then went on a 15-3 run to open up a 54-38 lead. The Trappers fought back within 56-50 in the final two minutes before Cash sealed the game by making five straight free throws.
Brooks Greenwald added 12 points for the Timberwolves, while Leighton Livengood led Fort Vancouver with 10 points. SKYVIEW 59, CALDERA (Ore.) 51 — Zeno Calastas and Tyce Haij teamed up to slow down Caldera’s 6-foot-9 senior post Will Jenson and help the Storm advance to the championship game of the Silverton (Ore.) Holiday Tournament. Malakai Weimer had 18 points and six rebounds to lead Skyview, which will face Summit of Bend in the title game at 3 p.m. Sunday. Ryan Hanson added 17 points. Jenson had 19 to lead the Wolfpack from Bend, Ore., but only two points in the fourth quarter as the Storm salted the win away.
CAMAS 69, FEDERAL WAY 36 — Ethan Harris scored 28 points and Jace VanVoorhis had 17 as the Papermaker rolled to a non-league win at home. KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 53, CLATSKANIE (Ore.) 20 — Jackson Lovato scored 12 points for the Knights, who opened up a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Girls basketball CASTLE VIEW 46, SKYVIEW 44 — Cameron Watson’s potential tying basket in the closing seconds fell short as the Storm concluded play at the Tarkanian Invitational in Las Vegas with a loss to the Sabercats from Castle Rock, Colo. The Storm fell behind by 14 points early in the game, but rallied to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Skyview went 1-3 in the tournament.
The Storm returns to action on Friday at the PCA Holiday Classic in Portland. BATTLE GROUND 39, MILWAUKIE (Ore.) 35 — Ella Horst scored 11 points as the Tigers were able to hold off Milwaukie to win their first game at Nike Interstate Tournament Silver Division at Lake Oswego, Ore. The Tigers jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first half and led 25-13 at halftime. But Battle Ground went a bit cold in the second half, but played good enough defense to win. Lola Cooper scored nine points and Lylah Collins had 8. The Tigers will face Sandy (Ore.) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the east gym at Lake Oswego High School.
Wrestling Hockinson places second at Three Rivers Classic — Austin Wallace, Jacob McKee and Leniel Sutton earned individual titles as Hockinson placed second in the team standings at the Three Rivers Classic in Longview. Wallace won the 138-pound bracket, McKee took the 150-pound division, and Sutton claimed the title at 165 pounds. Other local champions included Hunter Shirley (106) and Wyatt Eiesland (215) of La Center, Connor Crum (132) of Seton Catholic and Lutalo Quinn (285) of Hudson’s Bay.
