Clark College invites the public to two free Martin Luther King Jr. celebration events at the main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. A book discussion of the New York Times bestseller “Punished for Dreaming: How School Reform Harms Black Children and How We Heal” by Bettina L. Love, will take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Penguin Union Building, room 161. Love will also present, “We Gon’ Be Alright, But That Ain’t Alright: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom,” a keynote address at 11 a.m. on Jan. 23 in the Gaiser Student Center. “Love will delve into the struggles and the possibilities of creating a future rooted in abolitionist teaching,” according to Clark College’s news release.
