The Vancouver Police Department is accepting applications for its next Neighbors on Watch academy, which are due by March 7. The six-week academy runs April 17 through May 22. Participants will meet once a week to learn skills, such as CPR, observation techniques and strategies to be a good witness. Volunteers work with police officers, and they’ll gain knowledge of crime trends and investigative tactics, the police department said. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, live in Vancouver and be able to pass a background check.
