Prep highlights (March 27): Fort Vancouver baseball ends skid with walk-off win Updated 2 days ago
The Fort Vancouver baseball team earned its first win since the 2023 season by beating Kalama 14-13 on Thursday. Carson Ross doubled home the tying run in the bottom of the seventh. One batter later, Billy Freeman scored the winning run on an error. Alex Tetreault went 3 for 4, including two singles in a seven-run fourth inning as Fort Vancouver took a 10-4 lead. Kalama rallied in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs to take a 13-12 lead.
Playing its first season in the Class 1A Trico League, Fort Vancouver (1-2) last won when it beat Woodland in the next-to-last game of the 2023 2A Greater St. Helens League season. Ross, Lincoln Freeman and Shayne Quarles each had two hits for the Trappers. Drew Schlangen, Isaak Ketzbeau, Hudson Moon and Talan Thomas each had two hits for Kalama (1-5). Hockinson soccer survives PK shootout Jasper Armstrong made 15 saves and allowed just one goal in a PK shootout as Hockinson boys soccer beat Hudson’s Bay 4-3. Both offenses came alive after a scoreless first half. Makhai Velazquez scored two goals and Alonzo Flores added a third for Hockinson.
After regulation and OT finished 3-3, Hockinson won the PK shootout 3-1. Stars of the day Brookelyn Waddle, Kalama softball, went 3 for 4 with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBI in an 11-2 win over Fort Vancouver. Kingsley Williams, Seton Catholic softball, hit for the cycle going 4 for 4 with three RBI and three runs scored in a 22-0 win over Stevenson. Hayden Wiest, Camas softball, went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple and six RBI in an 18-0 win over Heritage. Tessa Mongrain, Battle Ground softball, went 2 for 3 with a home run in a 16-0 win over Evergreen. Addy Harmier, Skyview softball, went 5 for 5 with two home runs and five RBI in a 26-7 win over Mountain View. Kailanah Hagdahl, Kelso softball, went 2 for 4 with a three-run inside-the-park home run and four RBI in a 9-6 win over Union. Makenzie Moore, Prairie softball, went 5 for 5 with two doubles and was the winning pitcher, striking out 14 in a 10-5 win over W.F. West. Lono Williams, Skyview baseball, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple and five RBI in an 11-7 win over Mountain View Lucas Wolfley, Mountain View baseball, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and four RBI in a 11-7 loss to Skyview. Owen Dirks, Prairie baseball, went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBI in a 6-1 win over Evergreen. Justin Fuller, La Center baseball, went 3 for 4 in a 5-3 win over King’s Way Christian. Tynan Young-Boyle, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had a hat trick and two assists in a 7-0 win over Onalaska.
