Events set as Clark County to observe Food Waste Prevention Week Free Updated 13 hours ago
Clark County is joining 700 organizations worldwide in observing Food Waste Prevention Week. On March 18, the Clark County Council proclaimed April 7-13 as Food Waste Prevention Week, an international movement to inspire residents to reduce food waste at home, work and in their communities. Up to 38 percent of all food produced in America goes uneaten, causing extraordinary environmental, social and economic repercussions. Reducing wasted food can save a family of four up to $3,000 per year. To honor the prevention week, Clark County Green Neighbors is hosting two free events where residents can learn how to save money on food and reduce climate impacts. Food Waste Prevention Trivia: 7-9 p.m. April 8 at Fortside Brewing, 2200 N.E. Andresen Road, Vancouver. Test your food waste knowledge and win prizes. Hosted by 5Star Trivia. Advanced registration is recommended. Scrappy Cooking Workshop: 6-7:30 p.m. April 9 at Cascade Park Community Library, 600 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver. Learn how to save money and prevent food waste by getting creative cooking with leftovers. Advanced registration is recommended.
