Letter: Government should be accountable
Why should taxpayers cover a government’s shortfall? It’s called efficient budgeting. Anyone unable to work a balanced budget needs to return their salary, resign from office, be responsible for covering the shortage — and never allowed another public job. And let’s do away with the idea of a general fund. It’s the most abused accounting tool I’ve ever encountered; no accountability.
